WILLIAMSBURG

MYRTLE LEE JONES

Myrtle Lee Jones answered the Master’s call and entered into the “Land of Glory”, on Thursday, May 9, 2013, in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Her life began on January 25, 1929, the daughter of the late Gladys O. and John Lee Jones. Her eternal home is now the mansion Christ has prepared for her.

She was a longtime and faithful member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. She retired from Eastern State Hospital, after many years of untiring service. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be sorely missed. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wesley LeRoy Jones and her brothers, Floyd O. Jones and Milton A. Jones. She leaves to cherish her blessed memories, her children, James “Jimmy” Jones (Vann), Jacqueline “Carol” Harrold-Williams, Juanita “Doll” Johnson (Ralph) and Katrice “Treet” Lee; her honorary daughters, Lula Druitt Johnson and Paulette Williams Gray; her eight grandchildren; her sixteen great-grandchildren; her three great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Queenie Evans; her aunts, Rena Jackson and Camellia Druitt; her uncles, Percell Druitt (Erma) and James Druitt; her sisters-in-law, Louise Washington and Ann Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many caring friends. A funeral service, celebrating the life she lived, will be held 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013, in Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church with Dr. Robert A. Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Family and friends will assemble at 6270 Richmond Road by 12:00 noon on Thursday. Mrs. Jones may be viewed only in the church on Thursday, beginning at 12:00 noon, until the hour of her service. Professional service entrusted to the staff of Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, Virginia. 757-229-3011.
