Willie Tyrone Simpson began his earthly journey on March 3, 1951, in Toano, Va. He was the oldest of three children born to Willie and Martha Simpson.
At an early age, Willie was baptized and joined Chickahominy Baptist Church. Willie was raised in Toano and attended the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools, graduating from James Blair High School In 1969. After high school, he continued his education at Virginia State University under a music scholarship.
As Willie’s journey continued, he worked for Ball Metal, retiring in 2013 after forty-three years of service.
Between the years of 1970-1974, Willie was blessed with five children. In 1991, he met his loving wife, Judy. It was from this point that Judy and Willie became best friends. The two were united in holy matrimony in 2009.
Willie is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Martha Simpson; son Robert Simpson; and brother-in-law Garrett Bartlett.
Willie will forever be remembered by his wife Judy; his wonderful children, Kimberlee Jones (Clarence), Angela Holland (Thomas), Lesley Simpson, Antoinette Washington Tabb, Ronnie Simpson, Dewayne Simpson, Fredrick Harper, Chris Elder Sr., and Samuel Elder; siblings, Veronica Wilson (Reginald) and Karen Bartlett; twenty-nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; aunt Mickey Gresham (John); and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Whiting's Funeral Home, with Dr. Morris L. Randall Sr. officiating.
